About the Author
Vanitha Sankaran, MFA, PhD, is a medical strategist and a novelist. She originally embarked on a career in the biomedical sciences, earning her M.S. and Ph.D. in the field from Northwestern University. Writing was never far from her mind, however, and after publishing a number of acclaimed short stories online and in print, she earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University.
Her award-winning debut novel, WATERMARK, tells the story of a medieval French papermaker and his mute daughter who finds escape and solace in the wonder of the written word. She was a co-founding editor of the literary journal flashquake for its 10-year run and has served multiple times as the Conference and Program Chair for the Historical Novel Society of North America's conference.
